Taste of Island Taste & Giveaway

2 Flares 2 Flares ×

Let me introduce you to my friend, Pattie.

Pattie and I met shortly after I moved to Cayman and we became fast friends.  In fact, for my first year here we shared breakfast together almost every single day.  You’ll be hard pressed to find a better way to start your morning than with a piping hot, freshly baked spicy meat pattie!

Cayman’s own Island Taste offers a wide variety of goodies from patties (chicken, beef and lobster) to pastries and hot lunches.

Beef, plantain, cassava and fish.  Mmm!

The item Island Taste is most known for is definitely its patties and today, Island Taste is letting us take a sneak peak around their bakery where they will make 3000 mini patties for this year’s Taste of Cayman.

That’s a lot of dough!
First things first, the dough has to be mixed up.

Then, it needs to be flattened out before being filled with either beef, chicken or lobster.

Kitchen toys are the coolest!  After the patties are stuffed and sealed, its off to the oven.

The dots identify what meat the pattie is stuffed with

On January 28th, Cayman will host the 24th Annual Taste of Cayman, but the event actually started more than 30 years ago.  Island Taste has been with the culinary showcase from the beginning.

In addition, Island Tastes bakes up fresh pastries which are sold in dozens of stores and restaurants across Grand Cayman.

Wanna try some of their delicious goodies!?  Well, Island Taste has put together a great little re-useable Island Taste Swag Bag with some coco bread, gizzadas (that’s coconut in a pastry shell) and coconut rocks for one lucky winner 🙂

Love the different fillings (never thought of them for breakfast before but why not?) Not unlike the Scottish pasties but relish the taste of the exotic. Tell me – I've misplaced your email. Can you send me an email with your phone number please, since Waverley can't send your book to a PO Box number without it. Merci! J xo
