Baking Club: In it, to Hallo-win it!

18 Flares 18 Flares ×

I tried.

I really did, Baking Club.

But after four days of mixing and piping and piping and mixing, all I got was a handful of neither scary nor adorable ParaNorman Zombie Slipper cookies.

The cookies are infuriated by my poor royal icing skills!

So I did what any self-respecting (super-competitve) baking club member would do to save face.

I brought in a ringer.

Cayke is the brainchild of my friend Faith. I first came in contact with her crazy cake skills at friend’s baby shower where she totally stole the show.

Good thing I wasn’t onboard. I’d have eaten the other passengers.

In between her full-time grown up job, her full-time custom confections job and her full-time being-several-months-pregnant job, Faith found time to visit The Deep Dish kitchen to give me a dummy-proof, crash course in cookie decorating :)

Cookie Recipe
You will need:
1 cup sweet cream salted butter
3/4 cup granulated (white) sugar
1 egg
Few drops of flavoring
3 cups all purpose flour

  • Bake at 300 F for 15 minutes or until bottom is slightly brown

Big, big thanks to Faith from Cayke in the Cayman Islands.  Make sure you check out her website to see her other brilliant creations! You can also like her out on facebook.

Make sure to check out what my fellow baking club members whipped up for the occasion!

Honestly, I don’t even know if I ever can make these icing cookies… If I squeeze, I am sure unnecessary amount will come out and ruin the cookies. I had fun watching the clip and thanks for the fun! Hey by the way, I think you did a great job on zombie – the details as well as expressions are amazing! Good job!
