Every year on Ash Wednesday, folks on Grand Cayman have the option to spend the holiday at the annual Agriculture Show or Mardi Gras at Kaibo. Call me a fuddy-duddy, but when given the choice to spend the day drinking or eating…I’m always gonna go with eating.
The 44th Annual Ag Show at the Stacy Watler Pavilion in Lower Valley featured locally grown produce, a rodeo, musical performances from local artists, crafts from each of the five districts (the Sister Islands hold their own Ag Show the following Saturday in Cayman Brac), a livestock show and traditional Caymanian food: BBQ chicken, stewed oxtail, curried goat, fried fish and fritters. But enough talking! I took loads of pictures and shot some video this year – which Norma and Clark Kent were kind enough to tolerate – and put it together so you can see what our Ag Show is all about yourself.
